Planq started its journey when the twin brothers Anton and Dennis conducted a study about the textile industry. We concluded that there is a worldwide number of 150 million tons of fashion sold yearly. From which a large amount ends up in a landfill or gets burned. As a solution, we developed an innovative veneer material made from textile waste, called Rezign® Veneer.
The combination of the developed Rezign® veneer and the passion for designing resulted in creating sustainable furniture. As designers, we, therefore, believe it’s our duty to make the furniture industry more circular. We aim to do this by bridging the gap between environmental consciousness and contemporary design.
The Unusual Chair was the perfect starting point to create a sustainable furniture collection. The sustainable series now consists of multiple chairs, barstools, tables, and cabinets. But we are also here to help to design custom-made interior products.

In Europe, there are about 640 million pairs of jeans that end up in landfill. Not to mention that around 750 million meters of denim are not even sold annually. It’s footprint is 7000L of water just for one kilogram of denim. This equals the water requirement of 1 person for about 6 years. We could argue that the fashion industry’s footprint is, after the oil industry, the largest.
One Unusual Chair contains 12 pairs of denim jeans, with which we save up to 16275 liters of water. Have a seat for a better tomorrow.
