All applications, technologies and innovations in the Unilever Foods Innovation Center are tailored to the building, the functionality of the spaces and the needs of the organization. A combination of proven techniques and innovative tailor-made solutions ensure a comfortable, healthy and energy-efficient indoor climate. The Unilever Foods Innovation Center is an energy-neutral building. 1550 solar panels have been placed on the roof and the glass roof is also equipped with solar cells, which both generate energy and protect against the solar heat. The building won two BREEAM Awards in 2019 and received the highest certification: BREEAM-NL Outstanding.

In addition to the building, furniture with a sustainable story has also been chosen for the interior. The circular idea is the starting point for all material choices and detailing in the interior. And is designed by Fokkema & Partners. In the entrance, the Unusual chairs in green are used, made from recycled army clothing. With matching round tables with a top layer of recycled white denim. The table tops of the Loop tables looks like marble, but sustainable.
